Labour Day SunIt’s been a great summer in Toronto.  Lots of beautiful sunny and long days – our kids have had some great opportunities to get out and about:

  • Science Centre
  • Bowmanville zoo
  • ROM
  • Toronto Island
  • Spash park
  • Nathan Philips Square

to name a few.

And now as our summer season is quickly coming to an end and our families with older kids pick up those back to school items, there are still some great events to enjoy – despite the discouraging call for rain.

Try to take in some CNE activities, and many of the free events going on all over the city such as Artisans at the Distillery, Harbourfront, Brazilian Day Canada (Young-Dundas Square), Hispanic Fiesta (Mel Lastman Square).

Hit your local pool or park.  Enjoy time with friends, family.

Get out and enjoy the warm temperatures over the long week-end and have a safe one!

a fresh coat to start the season

paintingthe infant, toddler and preschool (including the Gross Motor) rooms have all received a long overdue fresh coat of paint resulting in a much brighter and cleaner looking space as we prepare for time indoors.   This work took place last week at the centre and the teachers and children all should be commended for their great efforts to accommodate their daily activities around this minor – yet highly disruptive – face lift.

call for silent auction prizes

our kids need us

We are sending a call out to all of our parents and the Orde Day Care community in general for help in securing items for our silent auction.

We are planning our first annual fundraising Silent Auction evening event in October 2010 and are looking for parents with contacts or connections to:

  • items or services that can be used as auction items for this event and/or
  • items or services that can be used to offset the cost of organizing this event i.e. party rentals etc.

Any donations will be appropriately acknowledged on our website and though posters, printed event materials and our newsletter.

As you know, our monthly fees and some provincial funding are applied to the operating budget however; to realize any additional improvements to enhance the development and overall growth of our children we need to fundraise.
